Mongolia's last fire was brounght this week.
A blaze in Batsumber Soum, Tov Aimag, was localised on Monday afternoon, bringing calm to the country after 10 weeks of fire.
Since April 9 383 fires have raged across 14 aimags, but to date 352 have been extinguished and 31 localised.
State Emergency Commission chief Ch. Purevdorj said the fires had been doused at enormpus economic and uman costo.
Twenti seven lives were lost, 61 people were injured and more than a quarter of Mongolia's forests and pastures were destroyed
Mr Purevdorj, who is also deputy prime minister, said damage was estimed to be in the region of US$ 1.9 billion.
The firefighting effort has included the mobilisation of 86,000 private individuals, 1600 police and 3000 soldiers. |
