The World Wide City of Interactive Monuments |
| Starting from summer 1994, Netville is in course of foundation as a
"practicable" metaphor and an "actual" city. It's aim is "Connecting the Most Significant Sites" all over the world with a "Global Network of Interactive Monuments". Conceived as a living memory-lab, Netville pursues the re-definition of man-made spaces to become actual sites for access to the digital space of contemporary communication. In the context of this new eco-system, each Netville Monument should become a sort of bio-technological hybrid (telematic equipments, interactive visitors and memory's stones), suitable for increasing with digital information the growth of contemporary culture in the remarkable sites of the "real" world. Netville is, therefore, an architectural project which envisages the globe as a "Theatrum Communicationis", whose scenes are constituted by emerging networks of connected monuments. It is a possible answer to the aesthetic drought so dramatically evident in our decaying urban spaces. As a way to achieving this goal, the Netville Project is linked with Associations and Institutions looking at the organization of international seminars, connective meetings and networked activities, in the fields of architecture and media arts.
