This conference brings to an end the research on the relationships among art, science and new media carried out by the ARSLAB COMMITTEE during 1996-1997, and intends to lay the foundations of a conceptual partaking platform in view of the next ARSLAB EXHIBITION, that should take place in Turin during autumn 1998. Had the research adopted three vectorial working assumptions - codes, interfaces and the rhizomic paths of art - the conference will make use of the elaborations thereof, in order to outline the theory and the practice of the epistemic space based upon the connective intelligence. The net communication, the cooperative work on line, the virtual communities and the network art form a new univers, that is about to change dramatically the society, the culture and the existential condition of individuals. The development of the conference, which is devided into plenary sessions, workshops and videoconferences, will explore the consequences originated by this mutation process in the realm of sciences, technosciences, ethics and philosophy, outlining a display of artistic experiences capable of distilling new elements of "sense" and of human sensibility.
