The Viet Vo Dao philosophy

It is difficult to try to explain in few pages a philosophy so complex and multi-facets as the one of Viet Vo Dao.
In a general way we can say that, differently from the rationalistic and metaphisics Western philosophy, it does not thrive in a theoretical dimension but in a dimension essentially practical, that is ethical and moral.

In a dimension which looks at the being in the prospective of a relationship:
the relationship of human being

The concepts of human being and world are included in the VVD philosophy according to the fundamental principle of the armony and not of exploitation, overwhelming or domination.
In this direction, the Vietnamese martial art (Viet Vo Dao) aims at the development of the True Human Being (not only of the Strong Human Being) and is founded upon the principle of armony between Strenght and Flexibility.

The bamboo is a plant which represents honesty and flexibility, perseverance and generosity.
The bamboo is, at the same time, strait, flexible, always green in every season.

To practise Viet Vo Dao means to become a member of a great world-wide community where the human fraternity is essential and the friendship above all ratial, political and religious considerations.
To be Viet Vo Dao Sinh (that is to be a practitioner of Viet Vo Dao) means to be aware of human destiny and to be resposible in front of oneself and others. Besides, it means to look constantly for balance in everything.
Armony is the very soul of Viet Vo Dao, perseverance and modesty are the practioner's values.

THE GREATNESS OF VIET VO DAO IS TO MAKE EVERY PRACTITIONER A FRIEND OF HUMAN BEINGS,
NOT AN ENEMY STRONGER THAN ENEMIES. .

The strenght of martial art is based only upon its philosophy. The Viet Vo Dao presents a rich and structured philosophical system. Along the path to look for the Way, every practitioner shall find, parallely to his/her technical development, Viet Vo Dao depth.

The Viet Vo Dao philosophy is the millenary soul of Vietnam's culture.
