The Plan of the Museum and of the School

 

In order to reduce the restoration works we decided to organize the activities inside the building in the pre-existent areas. For this reason we identified the following functional areas:

THE MAIN BODY
The main body of the building, that covers 2/3 of the whole area, will contain the most important collections of the Museum and of the Security School. It will be composed of four levels.

First Level (Basement Floor):
This level (about 1600 square meters) will contain the most recent motor vehicles and the equipment of the years after the second world war. There will be also an area dedicated to the drills and the interventions of Civil Defence starting from the second half of the twentieth century.
There will then be a multimedia records of the images, films, photos, starting from the documents of the first years of the eighteenth century. A specialized library, provided with historical and technical books, will be created in the same area.

Second Level (first floor):
The visitor can reach the upper floor through a metal ramp that has the same structure of the covering of the building.

The first level

A big helicopter will be located on this ramp. From here the visitor can reach the terrace that is the first welcome area. Besides there will be two big panoramic lifts from where the visitors can see the area below: the ticket-office, the bookshop, the different kinds of shop selling models, the cafeteria, and the video room.

This area will introduce the visitor into the atmosphere through pictures of the early fire brigades.

 

 

Here there will be the motor vehicles, the equipment, the uniforms, the photos and the documents from the eighteenth century until/to/till the second world war. The visitors can then take a break in the nice bar, here located.

 

School for Safety Floor

 

Third Level (School for Safety):
This floor will contain the organized tematically area, rhe laboratories, the and the offices.

Fourth Level (Conferences Room):
The conference Room will be located here. It will contain 20 seats and a modern audio-video system with the particular tele-conference system. A simultaneous translation system will be useful for the international conferences.
There will also be a little Pressroom anda a Committee Room for pre-conference activities.

LATERAL BODIES
There will be extra areas on the East and West side of the building. On the East area there will be the exhibition of the big fire engines that will aso be interactive. The west area will contain the particularly large equipment, like the ladders of the 1800, "Porta" model.
