THE AWARDED FILMS
The Jury of the International Feature Film Competition of the 15th Edition of the Turin International Film Festival, formed by Giuseppe Bertolucci (Italy),
Mario Martone (Italy), Amir Naderi (Iran), Peter Shepotinnik (Russia), and Alisa Simon (Usa), has apprecied the variety of the competing films and the substantial balance of the values: all the works express clearly the desolate emptiness of this end of the
century generation, from all latitudes. Furthermore, we would like to point out the risky and common tendency to abuse of pre-existing models.
Aften a long and passionate discussion, the majority of the Jury has chosen to award the following films with the prizes "Città di Torino":

Life Is Too Short to Dance with Ugly Women by Lars Kraume (Germany, 1996, 9')
Through an extraordinary use of sequence-shots, the film turns the typical narrative dramatics of a robbery into a funny reflection on the relationships between sexes.
Jury Special Award (2 millions Italian Lire):
La mort du chanteur du Mexico by Laurent Firode (France, 1996, 13')
For its structure originality and for the way it plays with time concept.
It cuts down the dramatics with humour in a chain of small accidents to reach a totally unexpected ending.
Jury Special Award (2 millions Italian Lire):
Horoskop by Maciej Adamek (Poland, 1996, 10')
It's a delicate reflection about adolescence uncertainty, expressed with a clean and incisive style.
The end seems to suggest with irony that "playing" is the best way to face the future.
